Hand hygiene related illnesses are included in the top five causes of mortality in children under 5 years in South Africa. The purpose of the study is to determine whether an Hand hygiene intervention can reduce related diseases among 4–5-year-old preschool children and to improve hygiene practices in these children, their caregivers and their parents.
